Edward J. Blauvelt, Chair
Edward J. Blauvelt is of Tawasee Muskogee, Mohawk, Taino, and Maya ancestries. Ed served in the Air Force for over 26 years on active duty and 18 years as a GS employee. Currently, he is the Chief, Command Operations and Manpower (GS-13) in a Department of Defense unit. Additionally, he serves as the Joint Base San Antonio (four installations) American Indian/Alaska Native Employment Program Manager.
Ed is a lifetime member of the Society of American Indian Government Employees, Native American Veterans Association, Disabled American Veterans, Joint Base San Antonio Native American Heritage, Sons of American Revolution and Association of Blauvelt Descendants organizations. Ed is a former 2015 and 2018 SAIGE Military Meritorious Service awardee.
Ed holds three master’s degrees, one in Military History from Norwich University, receiving Academic Accolades for his Capstone paper on Wounded Knee. His other masters degrees are from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) – one in Aviation Management and one in Aviation/Aerospace Safety Systems. He has a Bachelor’s in Professional Aeronautics from ERAU, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Valedictorian. He has two Associate degrees from the Community College of the Air Force. Additionally, Ed holds 20 certificates in multiple fields.
Ed has been married to his bride Nicole for 42 years. They have three children and three grandchildren. Ed’s diverse interests include military history, Gourd Dancing, photography, fishing, and astronomy.
